ETHYL VIOLET AZIDE BROTH (E05-105)

Ethyl Violet Azide (EVA) Broth is a liquid medium used for the detection of fecal Enterococci in water and other specimens. Sodium Azide and Ethyl Violet inhibit the growth of Gram-negative bacilli and Gram-positive spore-forming microorganisms. Casein Enzymatic Hydrolysate provides nitrogenous compounds. Dextrose is the fermentable carbohydrate. The reduced concentration of this carbohydrate, together with the presence of the dye, is very specific for Enterococci.
