Vibrio spp.
Vibrio spp. comprises Gram-negative, motile, straight or curved rod-shaped bacteria. Three species are responsible for food-borne infections, namely V. cholerae, V. parahaemolyticus and V. vulnificus, being 95% of seafood-associated deaths caused by the latter.
