SABOURAUD DEXTROSE AGAR, EMMONS
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar, Emmons is an agar medium used for the cultivation of dermatophytes and both pathogenic and non-pathogenic yeasts and molds. Enzymatic Digests of Casein and Animal Tissue provide nitrogenous compounds. Dextrose is the fermentable carbohydrate and inhibits bacterial growth due to its high concentration. Agar is the gelifying agent.
